Lake George is Volusia County's Hidden Treasure

    Nature
Stunning, breathtaking views in a park-like setting........
Is it a good idea to provide access to this area to Volusia County Residents?

As it stands now, it is difficult for a county resident to even see this lake from a public place, nor do they have the opportunity to study the amazing variety of wildlife.

  • There are very few if any other property that rivals this amazing tract.

  • This is a nature paradise where nothing will ever change. The wildlife and vistas will be forever.

  • Due to the Lake George Conservation district, nothing else can be developed in this area.

  • This site has with county water and sewer in place, cleared and ready with 12+ acres.........anywhere, on the St. Johns River or on Lake George.

  • If you like nature, you will be amazed every hour that you spend here.

  • If you just look outdoors and pay a little attention.....
You will see and experience things every day, things that most people never see or rarely see or see only when they watch a wildlife documentary.

  • An American Bald Eagle comes zooming out of nowhere and scrapes the water with his talons and catches a fish, then an osprey, no, two.....three ospreys do the same (all day long), one lands by close enough for you to watch him dine, while on the edge of the shore a great blue heron silently stalks his prey.

  • Meanwhile a snowy egret has already been successful and a pair of pileated woodpeckers climb a tree so close you could almost touch them. Several Ibis are moving along hunting at a much faster pace and a green heron, sits on a cypress stump and preens.

  • A turtle the size of an auto tire digs a hole to lay eggs, while wild turkeys, followed by a few chicks just stroll by hardly looking up or noticing one another.

  • A small alligator basks in the sun, he cares little about the Great White Egret a few feet away, a lesson in patience moving along knee deep in slow motion. A pair of otters pop up their heads out of the water as they swim through the lily pads.

  • Shell mounds (middens) have been discovered in the region and indicates that this property has been actively inhabited for a very, very, very.. long time.

  • Sit back and look around....listen to the silence...the quiet is only interrupted by the sounds of birds, or a perhaps a mullet jumps with a splash. The Spanish moss hangs from the cypress trees and gently sways in the breeze. 50 foot Sable palms sway as well.......how many?....too many to count.

  • If you're inclined....its easy to bring to mind the history, a thousand years ago on this very spot .........early inhabitants may have lived on this very spot.

  • While hunters hunted, children played, a fire burns, a native woman washes clothes along the shore....and life was lived as we can only imagine. This is where they spent their lives......generations perhaps?

  • In the winter/early spring you'll hear the occasional alligator roar and sometimes you hear many alligators calling to each other in the night from Willow Cove.

  • Some of the best fishing anywhere on the St. John's is within a mile or so thereabouts.

  • The magnificent sunsets every evening, unobstructed, across the "sea" of Lake George lighting the sky and water with pink and orange which remains until complete darkness.

  • Look up at the sky at night and see the milky way as clear as you have ever seen it. Truly magnificent. A great place to hold organized star gazing.

  • The moon reflects off the surface of the water shimmering like sequins reminding you of Highwaymen paintings.

  • The sounds of frogs, crickets and owls serenade you. Just before dark you see some turkeys fly up into the trees for the night, they'll be back down on the ground just after sun up.

  • The sunrise coming over Willow Cove gives everything a special color and the wading birds are gathering to start their day.

  • Unobstructed views forever. This property is on a point so there are almost always breezes carried across the lake to make sitting outside pleasant even in the summer.

  • A boat ramp could easily be installed even though the water is shallow around the point. Jump in your boat and take a 15 minute cruise across the lake to Silver Glen Springs and take a swim or just gawk at the fish, turtles and occasional manatee below in crystal clear water. Heck, take your boat from here to the ocean if you like, the river is navigable all the way. In season, you can catch all the shrimp you can carry...just a few miles north and set out some crab traps in the cove for huge blue crabs which live year round in Lake George.

  • If this is how you want to be able to enjoy natural Florida and later for your children or grandchildren to enjoy....later yet, their children or grandchildren will still be able to have these same experiences.

  • Unless it is purchased by a private party, it will always and forever be the same.

  • Beautiful oak hammock and numerous 50 foot Sable palms.
