• Meanwhile a snowy egret has already been successful and a pair of pileated woodpeckers climb a tree so close you could almost touch them. Several Ibis are moving along hunting at a much faster pace and a green heron, sits on a cypress stump and preens.

• A turtle the size of a auto tire digs a hole to lay eggs, while wild turkeys, followed by a few chicks just stroll by hardly looking up or noticing one another.

• A small alligator basks in the sun, he cares little about the Great White Egret a few feet away, a lesson in patience moving along knee deep in slow motion. An pair of otters pop up their heads out of the water as they swim through the lily pads.

• A shell mound (midden) discovered just a few feet away from the property line indicates that this property has been actively inhabited for a very, very, very.. long time.

• Sit back and look around....listen to the silence...the quiet is only interrupted by the sounds of birds, or a perhaps a mullet jumps with a splash. The Spanish moss hangs from the cypress trees and gently sways in the breeze. 50 foot Sable palms sway as well.......how many?....too many to count.

• If you're inclined....its easy to imagine the ancient past, a thousand years ago on this very spot
  .........early inhabitants lived..

• Right here, the natives lived, fished, fought alligators, ate shell fish and deposited the bones in a pile.....a midden.
  While hunters hunted, children played, a fire burns, a native woman washes clothes along the shore....and life was lived in a more primitive way. This is where they spent their lives......generations perhaps? 

• In the winter/early spring you'll hear the occasional alligator roar and sometimes you hear many alligators calling to each other in the night from Willow Cove.

• The best fishing - yes the best.....(shhhhhhh - we don't want everyone to know where) is a very short boat ride within a mile, thereabouts, not far.

• The magnificent sunsets every night, unobstructed, across the "sea" of Lake George light the sky and water with pink and orange which remains until complete darkness.

• At night, across the lake some 6 or seven miles, you can see a small necklace of lights along the shoreline and see the lights of the channel markers flashing on and off in the distance.

• Look up at the sky at night and see the milky way as clear as you have ever seen it. Truly magnificent.

• Later the moon reflects off the top of the water shimmering like sequins.

• The sounds of frogs, crickets and owls serenade you. Fireflies mosey past your view. Just before dark you see some turkeys fly up into the trees for the night, they'll be back down on the ground just after sun up.

• The sunrise coming over Willow Cove gives everything a special color and the wading birds are gathering to start their day.

• Unobstructed views forever. And.....because there is water on three sides (this is a "point" don't forget) there are almost always breezes carried across the lake to make sitting outside pleasant even in the summer.

• Like to boat? Jump in and take a 15 minute cruise across the lake to Silver Glen Springs and take a swim or just gawk at the fish, turtles and occasional manatee below in crystal clear water. Heck, take your boat from here to the ocean if you like, the river is navigable all the way. In season, you can catch all the shrimp you can carry...just a few miles north and set out some crab traps in the cove for huge blue crabs which live year round in Lake George.
